Work whore acutioned for €80... WTF?!
It's early... ish.
I'm massaging my pseudo-nerd by trying to do a clean re-build of the boss' laptop '...can I fix computers? Oh suuuure, I was a regular geek pre-Eire'
And those that know my real aptitude in this arena are quietly giggling to themselves and waiting for my flood of pleading emails... 'HELP! I've fcuked my boss' laptop... whaddoIdo?!' ....yes, patiently they wait.
A techno-masochist.
This day two weeks ago - a record of 4 jobs: waiter in one restaurant, barman at two different pubs & coachin the surfing during the day. Full days out in the water with two to three lessons and then an hour off before a till 12 shift in the restaurant or a close shift at one of the bars... Don't mind the late bar work so much, it's just that being an Aussie behind an Irish bar it seems that you're obligated to drink with the customers, "...and one for yerself there boy" - and after 4 or so of these...
MAN AUCTION - OzBarbitch sold for €80!
In another commendable effort of selfless compassion on behalf of S.I.R.F. (Strandhill Indonesian Relief Fund), the MAN AUCTION was held up at the Dunes Tavern continuing their fundraising effort for the earthquake stricken islands in Indonesia. A savage and wild night indeed. From behind my small and ill-equipped bar in a large outdoor marquee I had the perfect vantage point, poised carefully with one foot upon a couple of teetering drink crates, to witness the frenzied betting of a hundred or so of local women well fueled and frothing at the sight and offer of scantily local blokes brandishing an assortment of power-tools, surfboards, and remains of stripped clothing.
Bids fluctuated between €50 and up to a whopping €160 for a local surfer/electrician. But the level of coin thrown was up exponentially as Kian Egan of Westlife fame & Strandhill local stepped up to the ramp to shake his bits. €650 was the final bit for the boy but considering his rep. this seemed a bit feeble... still, after all was said and done there came a call to, 'get that barman up here...' Oh shit, and oh well why not, I can shake it and shake it better than the €650-man, so up I went.
SOLD! for €80 and I still owe my boss' missus 3 surf lessons...
Yes Laura, I'm onto it. As soon as I get a spare moment...
