On leave
As we work our way into Spring here in the north, friends further south are walking their way into Autumn. My mind drifts to images of shuffling through the grey-greens and browns of debris from bush flora, eucalypts and their allies in particular; lingering heat radiating through the cloud-gaps torn wrested apart by the cooler winds and the crush of the Summer wrack underfoot atomising that heady menthol - mmmm.
Here, I'm watching the spring rain bead and rake down the double glazing wondering when the white sheet will lift to reveal the chop ruffling Dublin Bay across to Howth.
But inside? Inside I'm legging it as fast as I can through some be-yonder Vandemonian dry sclerophyll trailing behind a wake of whirling leaves...
