2017 Irish Surf Festival, Sligo, Ireland

Since 2013 Ireland has celebrated surfing at its annual Surf Festival, Shore Shots. Each year the Festival has improved on the last creating an experience that offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the strange, evolving social and cultural seascape that is Surfing. Riding waves in the north-east Atlantic however is a little different. The grit exhibited by the women and men committed to the Culture in Ireland is rare and now well-woven into the fabric of the country. The wave riders of all craft, the photographers, videographers, shapers, artisans and craftspeople, casuals, part-timers, full-timers, bums, junkies, lunatics and searchers... all bit parts of the scene - be they chasing notoriety or something else. The Festival celebrates it all. Make the space in your calendar and get to County Sligo for the 22nd and 23rd of April - it's on at The Model with other events and happenings around Sligo. I'm stoked to have the privilege of one of my illustrations used for the 2017 Irish Surf Festival branding. Though a bit gutted not to be up on that side of the planet for it there's always next year. Many thanks to the lads (you know who you are) for the opportunity to contribute and best wishes to all the contributors. It's going to be huge - get amongst it!
